My Journey

My career in mental health began after completing my degree in Psychology. I started as a Support Worker on a CAMHS inpatient unit, supporting young people experiencing severe mental health difficulties.

I then moved into an Assistant Psychologist role within a specialist eating disorder service, supporting young people and their families through recovery.

Over the years, I have worked within NHS Talking Therapies, supporting adults experiencing anxiety and depression. I began as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner before qualifying as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.

I have also worked within a specialist service supporting people living with long-term health conditions, working closely with physical health teams to support people's psychological wellbeing alongside their physical health.

Alongside my clinical work, I have experience supervising other clinicians and supporting their development. I have now spent over 11 years working in mental health and continue to work within the NHS alongside my private practice.

Why I'm passionate about long-term health conditions

I've always been interested in the connection between the body and mind, and how our physical and psychological wellbeing can influence one another.

Living with a long-term health condition can affect so much more than physical health. It can impact your confidence, relationships, independence and hopes for the future. Equally, anxiety, stress and low mood can affect how we experience and manage physical symptoms.

Through both my professional and lived experience of long-term health conditions, I understand how overwhelming, frustrating and exhausting managing your health can sometimes feel.

While everyone's experience is different, my own experiences have strengthened my passion for supporting others facing similar challenges.

My Approach

Open notebook with lined paper and blank sections, a silver pen, a mug of black coffee, and a white vase with dried flowers on a wooden surface.

I bring my knowledge and experience of CBT, while you bring your expertise about yourself, your life and what it's like to live with your condition. We work together to make sense of your experiences and understand what might be keeping you stuck.

Therapy is shaped around your individual needs and goals, with a focus on developing practical tools and strategies that you can use in everyday life.

My aim isn't to tell you how to live with your condition or suggest that therapy can remove the physical challenges you face. Instead, I hope to help you feel more confident in managing its emotional and psychological impact and reconnect with the things that matter to you.

Ultimately, my goal is to help you feel less overwhelmed, more empowered and better able to live a valued and meaningful life alongside your long-term health condition.
